praying for peace~

hmmm..

i hope my heart will be much more at ease...

a heart that do not need to care of anything. of anyone. but the cheerful, happy-go-lucky me. however, i am just like this. towards friends and people, i will always feel sorry.

hmm... with such character. but yet so many friends, i am really thankful..

however, i still wish to feel peace in my heart. a feeling like a rainbow on a pure blue sky with many fluffy white clouds....

turkey - antalya, istanbul part 3

yoz! finally the last part for my turkey trip - antalya...

25th April

Conference is finally over! Both of us could finally tour Antalya peacefully! It was a super duper expensive day tour that we sign up with the conference organizer. SUPER DUPER! But the tour guide was good. =)

First stop was to an archeological site – Perge (PEHR-geh). Perge is a place with much ancient history from the history of Trojan wars all the way to Goddess Artemis, and Alexander the Great invading the city. At Perge, we saw a lot of ruins that were left since many many years ago. Ruins of a city such as during the Roman Empire

our tour guide ^-^
entrance to the ruins
Hellenistic-Roman gate-towers.

entrance to the location of the first Roman Bath in the city - southern bath house
Cold bath - Frigidarium (First stop)
Warm bath - Tiepidarum (Second stop) - before proceeding to hot bath, have to wait for their turn
used to be a place where there's a table (i suppose) at the rectangular area. meant to collect money for accessing the bath.
Hot bath area - Caldarium
the type of flooring years ago..
a place whereby statues of warriors were put in the arc area
pillar that has a marble base
a stone wall sign that most likely indicate the following row of shops are selling meat (*the knife and the hook - to hook the meat..?)
corridor of shops on the left and right
entrance to another lane of shop houses
chairs and supposingly "chess set" outside an entrance for the men. also an indication that the following row of shops are clothes or jewelry shops for the ladies. "chess set" is for those men who have to wait for their ladies finish their shopping.. =p

Next stop is Aspendos Theater – a very well preserved Roman theater in Turkey whereby concert was held last time. But in order to preserve it, another theater was built while the Aspendos Theater was used as a tourist attraction. =) Once again, this historical attraction has got to do with a Roman – roman emperor.

exterior view of the theater
a picture that can be seen on the ticket last time. a sad face = sad play will be played

apsendos theater (view: facing the audience from the stage)
climbing up the stairs of the sitting area

at the top of Aspendos theater
a nice tour guide that we briefly met showed / told us history of the theater. kept telling us that we look like korean / japanese.

After visiting the theater, we had lunch which was included in the tour package, a very pathetic lunch – bread with small piece of ham, slice of cake, orange, apple, and tomato. Plus! We had to stand under the hot sun to have it. While we enjoy the view of a river. Well, at least the view was really rather nice =)

=( lunch... =p
view at the top of the bridge

The last stop before our trip ended was a visit to Side (SEE-deh). It is said to be a traditional Turkish Mediterranean village with Roman ruins. Mr tourguide said that it was once give the Greeks to run the village although it belongs to the Turks. It is actually located really near the see. I suppose it is also near to Greece… The main attraction is actually twin Temples of Apollo and Athena whereby both Apollo and Athena were said to be the major deities of the city. We visited the temple of Apollon whereby description said that it was decorated with Medusa heads. I suppose there is a special reason why it was decorated with Medusa’s heads since Medusa was said to be feared by people many many years ago.

26th April

Goodbye Turkey.

Woke up super early, 5plus turkey time to take the conference bus to Antalya airport before taking the flight back to Singapore~ Did not sleep at all during the flight. But instead spend most of my time watching movies! Haha… watched extremely lots of movies since it was a 13++ hours back to Singapore. Plus! I managed to “learn” some Korean words on the plane whereby I copied out almost all the Korean vocabulary that was found on the “learn a language program” keke.. ^-^

Overall, my trip to Turkey was good. I had gain a lot during the trip. More dreams, more wishes and I will work hard for them~ Hwaiting!

Movies watched:

  1. summer wars (Jap Anime – recommend to watch)
  2. spider man III
  3. Jeux d’enfants (French; story line not that nice)
  4. A shine of rainbows (very nice and touching. Got me crying non-stop =p)
  5. Nodame Cantabile The Movie I (really good. Got me thinking a little. Not anymore now though)

turkey - antalya, istanbul part 2

am back with part 2~ [finally. Gonna keep it short.(hopefully) Since it is so so outdated.. =.=]

21st april.

is the first day staying over in the hotel -Majesty at Mirage Parkin Antalya. It wasn't that big. Just a few hours walk and we are done exploring. Behind the hotel was a wonderful view of the sea... Started of by exploring the sea and soon, we actually walked way too far and entered the grounds of another hotel unknowingly...... =p our plan was at first to visit the town. however, as we could not really get directions from any of the conference people or the hotel staffs, we bought a map and started to figure out where exactly was the place that we were planning to go. hmm.. personally, i felt that the boss of the convenience shop was even much more helpful in helping us find where exactly is the location on the map as compared to those at the hotel......... however, the boss ain't staying in Antalyaso he didn't know either. but at least he helped~ anyway, Ai Ni and I eventually found the place on our own. and then it started raining. so we had lunch and retreat back to the hotel room. I suppose were were still a little jet lag so halfway through the tv programs, i fell asleep at 3pm/4pm (Istanbul time) all the way till 6pm where I woke up for dinner~ so that was the end of my 3rd day ^^

sea behind the hotel
waves - i like ^^
flowers all over the hotel - pansy
roses~ =)
snail hiding inside the flower after the rain
the sky after the rain

22nd April

Woke up early cos is the day we are going on an expedition to Kaleiçi (KAH-leh-ee-chee), which is an old city also known as Old Antalya. It has a slight history which involves the Byzantine and Ottoman Empire. But anyways, ain’t going into that. The journey to Kaleiçi was a rather bumpy ride whereby we took a public bus and had a little help from a local in terms of getting there. =) lunch at one of the restaurant at Kalenci is one of the best I had since I reached turkey ^^

After lunch, we visited the old bazaar and market district which starts at Kalekapisi. In there were many small little shops which sells souvenirs especially for tourists. The main attraction to me however, was the old harbor whereby faces the blue sea. [pictures shall do the talking]

first glimpse of the sea

at the restuarant - chef cutting slices of kebab
mine -Döner Kebab
Ai Ni - chicken shish
Grooved Minaret(Yivli Minare) - symbol of Antalya
most shops have the blue color "eye" - for protection / good luck
the old harbour that faces the beautiful sea
clear blue water~
further up the harbour - houses maybe?
poor tired horses - one of them actually yawned...... =p
turkish tea -ςay
kind generous man that insist on us trying (for free) - but we gave him some tips and he posted a picture for me ^^
bread? is found everywhere. even in Istanbul. too bad i didn't try it.
one mode of transport in Antalya - tram
ice-cream uncle posing a picture from far~ keke
nice bus uncle that showed us the way back... =)
bus interchange
while waiting for another bus back to hotel.... a happy picture for getting back safely!! ^_^ with the help of so so many kind souls
turning dark..... tiring day~

23rd April/ 24th April

It was conference day. Went for a few presentations but realized that, the whole system was a little screwed up. Some halls were closed while some presentations were cancelled due to the delay of the flights cos of the volcanic eruptions. Some presentations were combined with another as the halls were close etc etc… lucky mine wasn’t that affected. My presentation was okay. Just a few
questions by some listeners and one question which I did not answered well as the listener was not pleased even after I tried my best. However, I was told then after that the question was out of point [oops =x did not realize]. Was also encouraged by one old uncle that I did well. =) so I suppose overall it was okay. Ai Ni also did well during the conference and I am totally impressed with her able to present without having to look at a script or something. Ai Ni jjang! ^-^ During the conference, befriended a Korean who is going to stay in
Turkey for a couple of years. So glad to actually able to talk to someone / get to know someone at the conference. Hee...

Those 2 days were also some special festival day whereby a few special local dishes were prepared and we had very very delicious kebab. However, there were a lot a lot of people… and it got a little frustrating having not found a table. =( Nevertheless, the rewarding part was learning a few Turkish words from the Korean friend, such as water = suyu (soo-you), a very popular drink that looks like milk but is made up of yogurt + salt – Aylan, ticket = bilet.

good morning~ impt day! a picture b4 preparing for the conference presentation
^-^
beautiful morning~ mountains behind our room....
before the conference... should fill up the stomach! dessert dessert and more dessert! super super sweet... =.=
lost of appetite / go healthy?
presentation
this reminds me of the movie koizora ^-^
chefs preparing special food for the special occasion
korean friend and us ^_^

finally! that's all for now. part 3 will be coming soon~

till then. goodnight!
